Since moving to Bakersfield almost 5 years ago, I have been diagnosed with an auto-immune disease and with chronic, unexplained, skin allergies. "My son, Samuel Haymond is 7 years old. Before the age of 3 he developed eczema. It very soon became a serious problem. He had it on his face, ears, torso, arms, legs and feet. Wearing shoes became difficult because the backs of his ankles were raw from scratching. If he had socks on, they would stick to the weeping sores, and often scabbed, sometimes leaving bloody toes and ankles. He scratched himself raw most days. We tried many, many things. We took him to our pediatrician, two different family doctors and or dermatologist. We tried over-the-counter meds and prescription meds. Nothing seemed to help, and anything topical burned his raw skin and made him cry.

It was not unusual to see him throw himself on the floor and thrash his legs on the carpeting trying to get some relief. We had a body brush he would use on himself, or ask us to scratch him. During these very difficult years we drove to a clinic in Nevada almost 5 hours from our home that used alternative treatments and homeopathy. At the Nevada Clinic they put Sam on a very restrictive diet to avoid all the things he was allergic to. So for over 2 years he was on a very limited diet, only eating things like ice cream and sweets once a year on his birthday. Still, no relief.

I have yet to mention that nights were the worst. He would cry in his sleep and thrash around in his bed many times each night. No matter what type of adult diaper we put on him, he soaked thru every night, sometimes twice a night. My husband is the one who got up with him and he didn't have a normal night sleep for over 3 years!

In 2005, at a friend's recommendation, we began to see Dr. Linda Hansen. She didn't promise any miracles, but was determined to try different things. To be honest both my husband and I didn't have a lot of hope, since we had tried so many things with no results. She asked us to come as often as possible, so we began going two times per week, week in and week out. She used Neurolink, muscle allergy testing, specific supplements and other modalities. She also told us things could get worse before they got better. But, within the first month we began to see results. We did have some setbacks, like realizing that Sam was allergic to his outside environment.

Months later Samuel is a different little boy. His eczema is all but gone, no more thrashing on the floor. He now eats what everyone else eats, and best of all, he sleeps thru the night and doesn't wet the bed! The only down side is that Sam doesn't have to see Dr. Hansen anymore, whom he misses very much."
